CID seeks court order to hand over custody of Zahran’s daughter to grandparents

Filing a motion before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court, the Criminal Investigations Department sought an order to hand over the four-year-old daughter of the Easter Sunday terror attacks' mastermind Zahran Hashim to her mother’s parents.

After taking into consideration the request, Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake issued an order directing probation officers that the child Mohamed Zahran Rudei be handed over to her grandparents, namely, Mohamed Husei Abdul Kader and Mohamed Yasin Siththi Saheela.

According to the 'B' reports, Zahran Hashim's wife Abdul Kader Fathima Sadhiya and his daughter who were injured in the Kattankudy bombings were brought to Colombo from Ampara and are now being held in CID custody.

The Magistrate instructed the grandparents not to transfer the guardianship to any person without court permission. The Magistrate also ordered the Kurunegala Probations Officer to continuously monitor the child’s guardianship. It was revealed that the parents of Zahran’s wife Abdul Kader Fathima Sadhiya, were residents of Kakunagolla, Katupotha.
