SLIIT Business School signs MoU with Virtusa

To Enhance Research Activities and Increase Career Opportunities

SLIIT, the nation’s largest non-state degree awarding institute, signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Virtusa (Pvt) Ltd on June 7, 2019. The collaborative agreement aims to elevate the quality of education and enhance career opportunities for university students as per industry requirements.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Professor Samantha Thelijjagoda, Dean - SLIIT Business School, Mano Weligodapola, Head - Department of Business Management, SLIIT Business School, and Ranitha Weerarathna, Senior Lecturer-SLIIT Business School. From Virtusa, Chandi Dharmaratne, Senior Director - HR, Jagath deSilva, Vice President Delivery, Virtusa, Nadira Cassim, Senior Consultant - HR, and Akela Silva, Associate Consultant – HR, were present during the event.

Welcoming the agreement, Professor Samantha Thelijjagoda, Dean - SLIIT Business School, said, “Project Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development are the most preferred programs by students that offer incredible career opportunities. With Virtusa’s lab set up at SLIIT, these programs will be strengthened further to welcome research and development initiatives from undergraduates that will be funded by Virtusa. Virtusa is actively involved in delivering sessions on career readiness and business etiquette modules to prepare the leaders for the future. Virtusa and SLIIT look forward to a successful and healthy partnership in the future.”

Chandi Dharmaratne, Virtusa, added, “The MoU will open the prospect of efficient knowledge sharing between the SLIIT Business School and Virtusa for undergraduates and staff members of the business school. To foster innovation, SLIIT excels at providing state-of-the-art infrastructure and efficient curriculum to equip graduates to make significant impact in contemporary workplaces. Working with Virtusa, will help accelerate innovation and pave the way for global career opportunities. These opportunities will also form a part of Virtusa’s Entry-Level Talent Acquisition (Internship/ Training) initiative.”

This collaboration will facilitate consistent branding and communication about Virtusa through several sponsorship activities at the university and increase opportunities for students to discuss career prospects with Virtusa at ‘Career days’, an event organized by the SLIIT Career Guidance Unit .
