The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) yesterday decided to expedite the disciplinary action against the Parliamentarians who have violated the party discipline, said SLFP Central Committee(CC) member and Eastern Province Governor Shan Wijayalal De Silva.
He said that President Maithripala Sirisena was of the view that the SLFP should take a decision with regard to the Presidential poll after having thoroughly studied the current situation and developments.”
“The President informed the CC members that there is no need to take a hasty decision with regard to the Presidential poll,”he said.
De Silva said that the Central Committee members also agreed with the President’s opinion.The party also filled a number of vacancies including Treasurer and Vice Secretary
The Central Committee decided to remove Parliamentarian S.B.Dissanayake from his present position of Treasurer and replaced him with Gampaha District Parliamentarian Lasantha Alagiyawanna.
Meanwhile, Parliamentarian Nishantha Muthuhettigama said that Parliamentarian Weerakumara Dissanayake was appointed as party spokesman replacing Parliamentarian Mahinda Samarasinghe at the CC meeting.
