Mobile service on migration-related issues today

A special mobile service for the benefit of those who have migrated or are preparing to migrate will be held today (17) at the Anuradhapura District Secretariat premises.

Anuradhapura Additional Government Agent Keerthi Gamage told the Daily News that this mobile service has been organised throughout the day by the Foreign Employment Ministry in collaboration with the Immigration and Emigration Department, Registrar General Department and the Foreign Employment Bureau.

Government Agent Gamage also said that at the mobile service, the public will have the opportunity to receive guidance and information over the bringing down of Sri Lankans who were stranded in foreign countries and affairs related to Sri Lankans being imprisoned overseas or detained.

He also said that the programme would make the people aware of the procedures to receive compensation on behalf of those who died while being employed in a foreign country and coordination to obtain birth certificates for children born in a foreign country and registration under the Citizenship Act.
