Reckless driving kills two in road accident

Two persons died when they were hit by a speeding van, while crossing the road at Polgolla in the Gokarella Police division. Police said that the van was plying from Galkiriyagama to Katunayake, when the accident took place. The victims were identified as D. M. Muthubanda, aged 87, and D. M. Ranaweera, aged 63; both residents of Palagala.

Police said the accident had occurred due to the negligence of the driver. Gokarella Police are investigating.
