Bootlegger fined

A person who was found guilty of manufacturing, possessing and selling illicit hooch was imposed a fine of Rs. 95,000 by Matara Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Isuru Nethikumara.

Investigations revealed that the accused had continued this illegal trade for a long time. He is a resident of Mahayaya in Akuressa.

He was arrested during a sudden raid conducted on a tip off by a team of police officials attached to Akuressa Police.

Investigations are continuing.
