Hotel manager allegedly assaulted by owner’s wife

An administration manager of a tourist hotel in Talpe, Habaraduwa, was admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital with injuries sustained in an alleged attack by the wife of the owner of the hotel, Habaraduwa Police said.

In the complaint made by the manager to the police, he had stated that while he was holding a class for hotel employees, the hotel proprietor’s wife who had suddenly entered the hotel with another individual, had attacked him with her high-heeled shoe, shouting abusively at the same time.

The manger further stated to the police that he was quite unaware of any dispute between his employer and his wife.

He had told police that he was employed there at the request of the hotel owner and while he was conducting a class for the employees, the owner’s wife who had entered the hotel premises with another person, asked him what he was doing at the hotel. She then removed the shoe from her right foot and hit him on the face with it, injuring him.

Meanwhile, making a separate complaint, the owner’s wife had stated to the police that she possessed the freehold ownership of the hotel property and when she had entered the hotel together with her lawyer, the Administrative Manager allegedly hit her with an ornamental pot when she questioned him about what he was doing there.

She further told the police that one of her fingers was injured when she tried escape the attack.

SI Thilakarathne of the Miscellaneous Complaints Unit directed by Habaraduwa Police OIC IP K.K.P. Udaya Kumara initiated inquiries into the respective complaints.
