Farmer dies in jumbo attack

A farmer died in a wild elephant attack in Kotawehera recently.

He had entered the forest looking for his cattle when the tragedy struck him.

The victim was J.H.M. Wimalasena (48), a resident of Kotawehera in Kurunegala.

He had entered the forest on August 11 and his body was found yesterday (12) by the villagers who were looking for him in the forest since he had not returned home on the day.

A senior police officer told Daily News that about 12 persons had died of wild elephant attacks in past seven months in Kurunegala and Puttalam.
