Future leaders honoured

Amal International School celebrated its Annual Awards Day at the Bishops College Auditorium, Colombo 3 recently. The function was filled with talent shows presented by school students.

Dr. Tara De Mel, the former Secretary of Ministry of Education and also a member of consulting group of mindless initiative UK graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while Faiz Mustafa – President’s Counsel and the first Chairman of Amal International School was present as the Guest Of Honour.

The Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour were welcomed by the school band and were given a floral welcome before they inaugurated the programme. The skilled students of Amal International School presented spellbinding cultural events such as choirs, folk songs and a drama which gave a clear message about a School’s role towards education. M M Shazuli, the Principal, read the annual report of the school. He made the audience aware of the school’s achievements in the academics and co-curricular arenas. He did not fail to thank his team players, the working staff by mentioning the names distinctly.

Students received valuable prizes: certificates, trophies and medals for their achievements in Inter school competitions, academic studies and sports. A rare occasion where the ‘Best Sportsman of the Year’ and ‘Amal National Award’ both were won by one single student occurred. Ibrahim Iqbal managed to achieve both these titles this time due to his extravagant performances and achievements in national level sports. Umar Zahar won the ‘Best Amalian’ award which is being presented for someone who did an immense service to his alma mater.

Head Prefect Ashfaq Ahmed proposed the vote of thanks.

Chairman of the School Ashroff Roomi, Members of the Board of Directors, Deputy Principals, Vice Principals, Sectional Head, Old Boys, teachers, parents and students were present.
