Ladies College Under 17 team runners up of ‘A’ Division Basketball Tournament

Ladies College emerged runners up against Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya, at the Sri Lanka Schools All Island Under -17 Girls ‘A’ Division Basketball Tournament held in the month of April.

Ladies College had to first play against the other three schools in Group D namely Mahamaya Girls’ School Kandy, Lyceum Wattala. and Yashodhara Gampaha. Ladies College won all three matches with the scores being (41- 32), (48-25) and (39- 32) respectively.

Thereafter Ladies College qualified to play the Quarter Finals against Gateway College Rajagiriya defeating them with a score of (58 – 32).

In the Semi- Finals Ladies battled their way to victory against St. Joseph’s College Nugegoda in a close match with the score being (33-29).

This win secured Ladies College a place in the Finals against reigning champions Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya.

After an exciting and nail-biting Final with both teams fighting for the title, Holy Family Convent finally pulled through as winners with a score of (37-42) and Ladies College emerged runners-up.

Captain of Ladies College Jovanna Fernando was awarded the Best Offensive Player of the tournament.
