More ambulances for state hospitals

In 2016, Rs. 5,000 million was spent on upgrading provincial health services, while another Rs. 3,000 million was spent on the same in 2017, Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said.

Speaking at the ceremony to hand over 100 more new ambulances to the state health services, at the Health Ministry on August 9, he said the programme of providing new ambulances was implemented with the financial assistance of the Austrian government.

The ambulances have been given to 111 state hospitals managed by the central government and 233 state hospitals under the purview of the Provincial Councils. Resources had been provided significantly for district and main state hospitals in order to provide a better service.
