Meethotamulla conversion: First phase nearly complete

The project to convert the Meethotamulla garbage dump into an urban park is almost half complete, Megapolis and Western Development Secretary, engineer Nihal Rupasinghe said.

The first phase of the programme will be completed by the end of this year. The Ministry has allocated Rs. 90 million this year for the project, he said. The Sri Lanka Army is assisting the construction of the park, while the National Building Research Organization is supervising the construction site. The first phase of the park could be vested to the public at the end of this year, the Secretary added.
