SLAF cashew planting project commences

The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF), in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Cashew Corporation under the Plantation Industries Ministry, ventured into cashew production in the SLAF establishment, to increase the production of this cash crop, enhance local consumption and promote more exports.

The programme was initiated yesterday morning under the direction of the Air Force Commander and with the participation of the Plantation Industries Minister Navin Dissanayake at the SLAF Station in Iranamadu at the auspicious time of 11.30 am.

A four-acre land would be cultivated under this programme.

Cashew Corporation Chairman Damsiri Bandara Dissanayake, Command Agro Officer, Group Captain O.A.N.S. Fernando, Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Iranamadu, Group Captain Chaminda Wickramaratne, officers, officials of the Sri Lanka Cashew Corporation, other ranks and civilian staff of SLAF Station Iranamadu were present at the ceremony.
