Old Thomians clinch Mustangs Trophy

The annual limited overs cricket match for the Mustangs Trophy between the old boys of Royal College Colombo and S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia who are domiciled in Canada was played at Mavis Grounds, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada and the Old Thomians beat their arch rivals by four wickets. Taking the first lease Royalists scored 256 for 7 in their allotted 40 overs with former Sri Lanka Test cricketer Rohan Jayasekera making the top score of 77 runs and in reply Thomians notched up the required score for the loss of six wickets with Rohan’s younger brother Shantha Jayasekera missing a well deserved century by two runs and Vishan de Mel was unbeaten on 53 runs.

Old Thomians – 257/6 in 36 overs (Shantha Jayasekera 98, Vishan de Mel 53 n/o, Udaka 2/46)
