President nominates attorney Meenu Jayawickrema to CA

President Maithripala Sirisena has nominated Attorney Lakshmi Menaka Meenu Jayawickrama to the Court of Appeal. In a letter to the Chairman of the Constitutional Council, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, the Secretary to the President, Udaya Seneviratne, has informed the Council that President Sirisena has nominated Attorney-at-law Jayawickrama to the post that fell vacant after the retirement of Court of Appeal Judge M.M.A Gafoor on April 23,2019.

The Secretary to the President stated that President was making this recommendation in terms of Article 107(1) and 41(c) (1) of the Constitution in order to fill the vacancy in the post of Court of Appeal Judge.
