Siddhalepa launches `Kekulu' Art Competition

Children are a nation’s treasure. The most precious asset to be nurtured and cultured in their homes by their family, in schools and universities by a sound education system backed by dedicated teachers, instructors and lecturers, and by a sound social system that will mould and influence their growth into our future generation.

Siddhalepa’s commitment to inculcate sound values and discover children’s inherent skills and talents at a very young age when they are yet in preschool has reached its eighth consecutive year.

The talent search for excellence in drawing and painting skills conceptualized and launched in a country wide competition called the Kekulu Art Competition first began in 2012.

Underscoring its popularity and success, the participation of preschool children nationwide has steadily increased over the years.

Entries open on August 1and close on October 15. Application forms will appear in “Athuru Mithuru” children’s papers.

The Competition is open to preschool children in all 25 districts of the country. Held district wise the competition culminates with an overall winner from each of the 25 districts, at an awards ceremony. All participants will receive a certificate as an encouragement and recognition of their participation.

This year’s competition titled a `Rainy Day’ is designed to trigger the young imagination and induce children to use their best skills of artistic expression to depict a natural phenomenon that children in tropical countries experience as part of life from a tender age, learn to live with and value.

“Our commitment to the younger generation is given expression by this all island competition which reaches all our pre schools in every district. We value our children as the true wealth of our country and organizing and being committed to a countrywide competition of this magnitude is our contribution to tap the inherent skills of our children and reward them accordingly,” said Siddhalepa Group, Chairman Dr. Victor Hettigoda.

The Kekulu range of children’s soap, toothpaste, colognes are among the most popular products in the Siddhalepa brand of the over 150 products manufactured by the Siddhalepa Group based on the ayurveda formulas.

The Kekulu Art Competition is one of the company’s leading corporate social responsibility programmes together with their green initiatives and the drive towards a carbon neutral society.
