Belated funeral for Shangri-La bomb blast victim

The funeral rites of a youth who died in the bomb blast at Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo were carried out on Saturday (3) after three months from the Easter Sunday carnage.

Remains of the victim identified as Vihanga Thejantha (21), a resident at Bulugahagoda in Ganemulla, were handed over to his parents on Saturday in a sealed coffin by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following a DNA test and judicial proceedings.

The victim was a chef at Shangri-La Hotel and his body was unidentifiable as the suicide bomber had detonated his bomb very near to him. He was the second child in the family. His name had been in the list of missing persons following the attack.
