Rally calls for foreign intervention to bring justice to victims

A rally held in Kattankudy on Saturday to mark the 29th commemoration of the August 1990 mosque massacre by the LTTE demanded international intervention to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The rally began in front of Hizbullah Cultural Hall in Kattankudy and reached the Meera Jumma mosque, one of the sites of the massacre. A special religious ceremony was held at the mosque. The Kattankudy Mayor, President of the Federation of Mosque Institutions, Municipal Councillors and others participated.

All the business establishments were closed and white flags hoisted in Kattankudy to mark the anniversary.
