Victim turns killer in Panadura murder case

The murder and robbery case filed against Handunge Anura Suresh Silva of Thalpitiya was fixed for trial by Panadura Chief Magistrate Amila Ariyasda.

The accused is the agent of the Hero showroom in Wadduwa.

The Chief Magistrate concluded the non-summary inquiry against the accused and forwarded the case record to the Attorney General and ordered the accused to stand his trial before the Panadura Provincial High Court.

The accused was enlarged on personal bail on Friday and cautioned not to fail to appear before the High Court when he received a notice.

In this case, the accused is charged with the murder of Ranawaka Archchige Sarath Ranawaka on December 12, 2012, at the latter’s house in Panadura. The accused is also charged with having stolen Rs. 420,000 worth in cash and jewellery from the house of the deceased.

The non-summary inquiry revealed that the accused had allegedly been sexually abused by the deceased in his house, while the deceased’s wife was in Italy. Police Sergeant Saman Lal Edirisinghe of Panadura North Police prosecuted.

Attorney at-law Lakmini Peiris appeared for the accused.
