Housing and Construction and Cultural Affairs Minister Sajith Premadasa said he will provide free preschool education if he becomes the leader of the country.
He was addressing the gathering after commissioning the Kumari Sindu Hapangama in Tissamaharama.
The Minister said the pre-education system should be given a new lease of life to suit the modern world. He said pre-school children should be provided with a mid-day meal and they must be given an opportunity to learn in modern school buildings.
The Minister said that certain politicians and their henchmen who cannot tolerate his good work and services to the downtrodden people criticise him.
He said he has no duplicate policy like of the members of the previous regime.
He said that when this government took over the power, they took over the debt burden of the previous regime. He said he serves the people sans corruption, bribery and malpractices.
The Minister said the model village was set up at a cost of 2 billion. “A certain group attempts now to derail the country and its economy,” he said.
