HelpAge Sri Lanka wheel chairs for Makumbura transport terminal

HelpAge Sri Lanka (HASL) recently distributed wheel chairs to the Makumbura Multi Modal Transport Center terminal at Kottawa for the benefit of disabled passengers.

Accordingly, this Multi Modal Rail- Bus transport terminal which is controlled under the supervision of the Ministry of Megapolis is now able to transport disabled passengers to their respective bus stops and the Railway station inside the terminal.

A ceremony to mark the wheel chair distribution took place at the HelpAge Sri Lanka head office at Rattanapitiya (adjoining the University of Sri Jayawardanapura) with the participation of HelpAge Executive Director Samantha Liyanawaduge.

Multi Modal Rail-Bus passenger terminal officer Thanuja Prasad Peris said over 5,000 passengers arrive at this transport terminal daily.

HelpAge, Executive Director Samantha Liyanawaduge said in addition to Wheel Chairs, HelpAge is expected to donate more disabled equipment to this newly established bus terminal.
