Held for swindling neighbour for drugs

A man who had pawned a neighbour’s motorcycle to buy heroin was arrested by Weerabugedara Police in Kurunegala, recently.

The suspect had borrowed the motorcycle saying he needed to take his child to the hospital. He had also borrowed Rs.1,000 from the neighbour saying he was short of money to buy medicine as well.

The suspect was identified as a 34-year-old resident of Wariyapola. Police seized 2.33 grams of heroin from him.

The suspect had also been imprisoned for five years by the Kurunegala High Court on a previous occasion for a similar offence.
