UPay, Sri Lanka’s payment platform enables one to register multiple bank accounts and multiple cards securely for payments, which makes this truly “Sri Lanka’s Payment App.” SDB Bank expects this new venture to pay dividends by enabling the Bank to provide a much more enhanced experience to digital enthusiasts.

SDB bank, CEO, Thilak Piyadigama, said, ‘‘this initiative by the SDB Bank is important in many ways. For one, this marks a new chapter of our digital journey as this provides our customers with access to a wide range of digital payment options and additional services.

This would definitely complement their life style and add to the quality of life by simplifying daily chores. We also believe that digital innovations of this nature are important in reaching out to the under-banked population, a goal that’s embedded in the very roots of the SDB Bank.”

UPay permits customers to simply link their bank accounts and credit/debit cards to the app. This enables customers to seamlessly purchase products or services without having to physically handover cash or swipe a card. UPay also provides customers with access to essential services, such as mobile top ups, utility bill payment, channeling doctors, etc., without hassle and delay of paper checks, simply at the convenience of their fingertips.

The app is loaded with special features, each carefully designed to meet a specific need of the customer, such as, ‘My Payee List’ or ‘Scheduled Payments’ which enable a customer to automate, track and manage all recurring payments to vendors and service providers. SDB Bank is a licensed specialized Bank, regulated by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and listed on the Main Board of the Colombo Stock Exchange, with a Fitch rating of BB+ (Stable), which offers a wide range of financial services for a clientele of all walks of life.
