Veteran writer launches poetry book

Veteran writer and retired teacher M.I.F. Madina Ummah launched her Tamil poetry book titled Kanavu Mahan at the Akkaraipattu Divisional Secretariat Auditorium, recently.

The ceremony, which was presided over by Sammanthurai Deputy Zonal Education Director A.S. Ahamed Kiyas, was attended by Akkaraipattu Zonal Education Director A.M. Rahmathullah and Akkaraipattu Divisional Secretary M.S.M. Razan as its chief guests. The first copy of the book was handed over to Akkaraipattu Auto-electrician M.H. Fareed by the chief guests.

Akkaraipattu Postal Assistant J. Firas, Akkaraipattu Masha Communication Proprietor S. Sujath Ahamed, and Accountant K. Lingeswaran were also present at the event and received the special copies of the book.

The Guests of Honour, Assistant Education Director (Tamil Language) Dr. M.I.M. Haniffa and South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL) Prof. Ramees Abdullah, addressed the gathering. Author Madina Ummah was also felicitated for her services with a memento by the organising committee officials at the event. A large number of artists, poets, educationists, local politicians, journalists, as well as family members of the author, participated in the event.
