Port City Steering Committee completing penultimate draft of laws

The Steering Committee which is formulating a set of legislation to be applied in the Colombo Port City has now completed a penultimate draft of the said laws, Committee Chairman Minister Harsha de Silva told the House yesterday. He further said that the laws will be very conducive to attract foreign investment to the Colombo Port City.

He made these observations participating in the debate held on the proposal to include the Colombo Port City into the administrative limits of the Colombo District, in Parliament yesterday.

“This draft has been reviewed by both legal and financial experts and also has gone through the scrutiny of the Central Bank’s Monetary Board because it incorporates a number of areas where the Central Bank is the regulator,” Minister de Silva added.
