Postal strike ends

Postal trade unions action launched by the postal service employees has been called off which commenced at midnight on Sunday

More than 600,000 letters have piled up at the Central Mail Exchange due to the Postal trade unions strike.

Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne said that the letters will be distributed today.

The postal employees launched a ‘sick-leave’ trade union action for 24 hours due to a number of demands not being met as promised.

Convenor of the Joint Postal Services Trade Union Chinthaka Bandara said that around 26,000 postal service employees engaged in the trade union action.
