Farmers to receive compensation for crop losses

A sum of Rs. 556 million has been allocated as compensation for last year Yala season  cultivation damages, said the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development P.Harrison.

Agricultural & Agrarian Insurance Board will provide compensation for six crops including paddy, maize, big onion, potatoes, soya beans and green chillies.

Distribution of compensation for 2750 farmers who lost cultivation in Anuradhapura District will be held on August 2.
