Rs. 40,000 fine for power piracy

Panadura Chief Magistrate Amila Ariyadasa imposed a fine of Rs. 40,000 on Dayananda Salgado, who pleaded guilty to the charge of pirating electricity, in Panadura, on Thursday. The suspect agreed to pay the loss of Rs. 36,000 caused to the Ceylon Electricity Board.

Panadura South Police Sergeant Ananda prosecuted.
