Acting IGP C.D. Wickremeratne has directed the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) to launch an investigation into this assault incident in Kalagedihena on July 16.
Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said the offending Defender (WP- CAD - 8850) and the Prado (WP- CAG-0550) belongs to Udam Indula Sri Sampath Chandula Amaratunge and Dinesh Nuwan Amaratunge of Gallegoda, Ingiriya.
Police have found the Defender jeep involved in the incident from a residence in Maharagama and had taken it into custody. The Defender jeep driver and the one who assaulted the van driver surrendered to the Colombo Crime Division last night three days after the incident. The driver and the other suspect are to be produced before the courts today.
They will be arrested, SP Gunasekara said.
The driver of the victim van from the Habaraduwa police area had lodged a preliminary complaint with the Nittambuwa police station through the 119 police emergency service.

In his complaint the MP has requested Acting IGP to launch an investigation and enforce the law on the culprits involved in the incident without considering their status.
