Cabinet approved the proposal presented by Megapolis and Western Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka on the implementation of the Meethotamulla Revival Project in accordance with the recommendations of the committee appointed by the Cabinet of ministers.

The Cabinet of ministers approved the proposal presented by Agriculture, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister P. Harrison to implement the action plan on the mitigation of crop-related issues caused by wild animals.

Regional workshop on underutilised fish and marine genetic resources

The Cabinet of ministers approved the proposal presented by Agriculture, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister P. Harrison to conduct a regional workshop on underutilised fish and marine genetic resources and their development, in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Agriculture and Research Institute, from July 10 to July 12 in Sri Lanka.

Construction of fishery harbour in Gandara

The Cabinet of ministers approved the combined proposal presented by Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Agriculture, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development P. Harrison to liquidate the procurement process with the Bouygues Travaux Publics Company and to construct the Gandara Fishery Harbour using local funds.

Revising Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act No. 2 of 1996

The Cabinet of ministers approved the proposal presented by Agriculture, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development P. Harrison to revise the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act No. 2 of 1996 in order to punish boat owners, operators, captains, as well as passengers, who are involved in illegal activities.

Recommendations for additional amendments to Construction Industries Act. No 33 of 2014

The Cabinet of ministers approved the proposal presented by Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs Minister Sajith Premadasa to amend the Construction Industries Act No. 33 of 2014 in accordance with the draft prepared by the Legal Draftsman, as well as inserting the amendments proposed by industry bodies, to prevent irregularities and underperformance.

Establishment of Prison Intelligence Unit under Prison Ordinance

The Cabinet of ministers approved the proposal presented by Justice and Prison Reforms Minister Thalatha Atukorale to set up a Prison Intelligence Unit under general powers, and control of the Commissioner of Prisons under the Prisons Ordinance.

The Cabinet of ministers approved the proposal presented by Justice and Prison Reforms Minister Thalatha Atukorale to sign the Convention on International Dispute Resolution Agreements Resulting from Mediation, on behalf of Sri Lanka.

The Cabinet of ministers approved the proposal presented by Power, Energy and Business Development Minister Ravi Karunanayake to award this contract to the M/s TBEA Shenyang Transformer Group Co Ltd for USD 2.6 million and USD 2.5 million.

Consultancy Services Contract of Western Provence in Second Integrated Road Investment Programme funded by ADB

The Cabinet of ministers approved the proposal presented by Highways and Road Development and Petroleum Resourced Development Minister Kabir Hashim to award this contract to M/s SMEC International Pvt Ltd (Australia), Sub Consultant with Resources Development Consultants (PVt) Ltd, and Master Hellie’s Engineering Consultants (Pvt) Ltd.

Mid-year Financial Statement 2019

The Cabinet of ministers approved the proposal presented by Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera to present the Mid-year Financial Statement 2019 to Parliament in accordance with the regulations of the Fiscal Management (Regulatory) Act No. 3 of 2003.

Revitalisation of tourism sector

The Cabinet of ministers approved the proposal presented by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe; in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement and Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development and Youth Affairs; to advise SriLankan Airlines to reduce fees on airline services; such as fuel and lubricants and ground operations.

It also focuses on advising the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) to bring down the price of fuel, similar to the fuel prices at the Chennai Airport, and on suspending the implementation of the Budget Proposal to increase the Embarkation Levy by USD 10.
