CID detains two Cinnamon Grand bomber’s relatives

The Criminal Investigations Department yesterday informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate that two close relatives of the suicide bomber Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed Insaf Ahmed, who blew himself up at the Cinnamon Grand hotel, were arrested and detained by them.

The CID pleaded to issue an order directing several banks to handover the bank account details related to the arrestees.

The Magistrate ordered several banks to submit these bank account details to the Criminal Investigations Department.The Magistrate fixed further hearing for August 21.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake has decided that the suicide bomber who blew himself at the Kingsbury Hotel, was a self-bomber.

The Criminal Investigations Department further informed that they arrested another two suspects in connection with the case. The CID stated that they had obtained clearances to detain the suspect for three months.

The CID further told the court that they had obtained bank account details and the mobile phone details from the relevant companies.

They pleaded to issue an order directing those companies to keep those documents safely until investigations are concluded.

The Magistrate issued order to these companies to keep them safe.
