Pinketaya at Kadigamuwa Temple ransacked

Thieves have broken the pinketaya (charity box) at the Ihla-Kadigamuwa Sri Pushparamaya Temple in Bingiriya open yesterday night and taken away coins in it, Viharadhipathi of the temple, Ven. Kadigamuwa Dhammaratna Nayaka Thera said. The Thera has made a complaint in the Bingiriya Police in this regard.

The thieves had entered the shrine by removing several tiles of the roof. About Rs. 250,000 might have been taken away by the thieves, residents of the area said. No arrest was made so far.

Bingiriya police are investigating.
