Extremist suspect Naseer handed over to TID

A suspect named Raj Gopal Mudiyanselage Ismail Mohammadu Naseer arrested by the Nikeweratiya Crime Investigation Unit on May 1 for questioning regarding terrorist activities was handed over to the Terrorism Investigation Division on Monday for further interrogation, Police Headquarters said in a statement yesterday.

The 41-year-old suspect, resident at No 216, Nikapitiya Manchawala in the Rasnayakapura Police division had been a moulawi.

Investigations made by the Rasnayakapura Police where he was detained revealed that he had received training with Mohamed Zahran in Blackpool, Nuwara Eliya. He was handed over to the Terrorism Investigation Division on Monday for further interrogation.
