Nabbed with forged notes

A suspect was arrested with 50 forged 100 dollar notes, two mobile phones and two sim cards in his possession at a restaurant in Nugegoda by the Kohuwala Police recently.

He was arrested following a tip-off received by police that he was duping unsuspecting customers by promising to provide dollar notes at a cut-price.

Police said the arrest was made when a police decoy requested the suspect to provide fifty 100 dollar notes for Rs. 800,000.

Investigations revealed that the suspect youth who is a resident of Badulla had been carrying on this racket by staying in lodging houses in Colombo.

Kohuwala Police OIC Inspector Dileepa Fernando is continuing investigations under the supervision of Mount Lavinia SP Muditha Pussella and ASP Samantha Wedage.
