The Kadugannawa Ambalama, that has been damaged for over a year after a traffic accident, was repaired last week. However, the renovation of the 200-year-old construction is incomplete as a large crack in one of its walls had not been covered.

The ambalama, which was built during the early 18th century, during the English colonial rule, is a site of archaeological importance.

After the accident that took place last year, the Daily News has carried several news articles on the need for immediate repairs. However, not enough attention has been paid in the recent repairs.

Residents of the area said that renovating the ambalama was pointless if they were not going to do it properly.
