Negombo Municipal Council Opposition Leader Royce Fernando has been arrested by Katana Police in a case of house-breaking, assault and theft. Fernando has been identified as the main suspect who broke into a house, assaulted a person and stole goods from the house last March. He was arrested in Negombo by the Katana Police yesterday.
The suspect was identified as Jayaweera Arachchige Royce Wijitha Fernando,53 years, resident of Negombo and an electoral organizer and Provincial Councilor of a Political Party, Police said. Five suspects who are connected to the crime have been arrested previously and are currently in Negombo remand custody.The main suspect is to be produced before the magistrate court today and Katana police are investigating.
