Navy certificate awarding ceremony held

A certificate awarding ceremony of the Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET) - Balance Style Course 2019/1 was held at the auditorium of the Special Boat Squadron Headquarters in Trincomalee last Friday.

Deputy Area Commander Eastern Naval Area, Commodore Jayantha Kularatne was the chief guest. Thirty six Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) personnel from the Special Boat Squadron (24) and the 4th Fast Attack Flotilla (12) successfully completed the training programme held for 23 days. The JCET was conducted by 10 trainers of the 19th Special Forces Group Airborne of the US Army.

The three-week-long exercise training mainly focused on human rights, law of land warfare, 9mm and 5.56mm ammunitions live firing and handling of small arms, patrolling methods, tactical combat casualty care, long-range marksmanship, maritime interdiction operations, Improvised Explosive Device(IED) and military decision-making process.

The ceremony was also attended by senior officers, heads of departments and Lieutenant Commander Jonathan Bach from the United States Embassy in Sri Lanka.
