Three suspects in ransom case re-remanded

Three suspects were reproduced before the Dambulla Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

They were in remand for demanding Rs.100 m as a ransom from the trustee of Rangiri Dambulla Temple and Sri Vishnu Devalaya Chief Incumbent of Dambulu Meda Pansala and Director of the Sri Walagamba Pirivena and Deputy Sanganayaka of the Matale District Ven. Abagaswewa Rahula Thera,

Police informed court that the investigations into the incident is continuing. The suspects are residents of Dambulla and Sigiriya.

The defence lawyers requested court to release the suspects on bail. Magistrate I.M.S.B.Illangasingha remanded the suspects until June 17.

Counsels Wasantha Ariyaratna and Randeepa Wijesuriya appeared for the defence.

Dambulla police prosecuted.
