University of Technology Sydney launched in Colombo

A top rank technology university of Australia was launched in Colombo with the participation of Australia’s High Commissioner for Sri Lanka David Holly and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday.

The Colombo’s newest international higher education college called the ‘University of Technology Sydney ( UTS ) Insearch Sri Lanka’ was officially declared opened at Shangri La Hotel in Colombo with the Australian college is expected to bring its latest development skills in higher education to the country to support the skills and knowledge of the Sri Lankan students, UTS directors told participants of the launch, among them the news media.

The opening of UTS Insearch Sri Lanka was marked with its dedication plaque being presented to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe by the Australia’s Hign Commissioner Holly. The Prime Minister attended the event with Southern Development Minister Sagala Ratnayaka and National Development Bank Chairman Kavan Ratnayaka.

Holly said at the launch that establishing a Sydney-based UTS Insearch branch campus in Colombo is a milestone in the relationships between the two countries. He said it is an example of Australia’s excellence in providing educational opportunities to Sri Lanka.

UTS’ Deputy Vice Chancellor and Vice-President (international ) Iain Watt, UTS Insearch Managing Director Alex Murphy, UTS academics, BOI officials, educators and business leaders attended.
