Insurance for 5,000 bhikkus

The second stage of the awarding of the Budu Puth Surakshana medical insurance entitlement to over 5,000 bhikkhus will take place at a ceremony in Kuliyapitiya on July 15, Buddhasasana and Wayamba Development Ministry Secretary A.P.G. Kithsiri said.

Bhikkhus in the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts will benefit under this scheme, he said.

The Budu Puth Suraksha insurance scheme for bhikhus was launched on a concept of Minister Gamini Jayawickrama Perera under the guidance of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The first stage of this programme was held at Temple Trees under the patronage of the Prime Minister and a group of nearly 2,000 bhikkhus including Mahanayake Theras and Anunayake Theras of the Three Nikayas were awarded entitlement certificates.
