HC serves indictments on Shanil Nethicumara

The Colombo High Court yesterday served indictments on Shanil Nethicumara over a charge that he posed death threats to Wijith Wijesuriya, the brother of Anika Wijesuriya, a witness of the Bond Commission inquiry, when giving evidence at the Bond Commission against Minister Ravi Karunanayake.

Shanil Nethicumara who is involved in his family business ‘Salaka’ was yesterday ordered to be released on a cash bail of Rs.50,000 and two sureties of Rs.500,000 each by Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Kulatunga.

The High Court also issued an order preventing the accused from leaving the country without court permission.

The Attorney General had filed indictments against the accused for levelling death threats during the Bond Commission inquiry.

Wijith Wijesuriya had made a complaint with CID against Shanil Nethicumara alleging that he posed death threats over the phone. The case was fixed for August 9.
