Bimandee and Ginige crowned TT champions

Bimandee Bandara of Hillwood College, Kandy and Chameera Ginige of University of Sri Jayawardenapura University clinched the Open women’s and men’s singles titles respectively at the 72nd National Table Tennis Championships held at the Army Indoor Stadium, Panagoda. This is the first time these two players emerged national champion and also won the most outstanding player awards of the tournament.

Bimandee beat Muthumali Priyadharshani of CSCT Campus in straight sets 4-0 in the final while Ginige scored a thrilling 4-2 win over former National champion Rohan Sirisena.

Nadeeka Damayanthi, Assistant Director of Sports Development Department was the chief guest and gave away the awards at this tournament which was conducted by the Table Tennis Interim Committee.
