National Education Draft to be presented to House soon

A National Education Draft will be soon presented to Parliament which will be a great advancement in the Educational sector, Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said.

He was addressing Sasunata Diridena Surakimu Pirivena ceremony presenting new appointments to 162 Pirivena teachers (Parivenacharya) at the Education Ministry yesterday.

The Minister said that although many groups tend to criticize the present government, it has rendered a commendable service to the country, specially to the Sasana.

“Before our period, most of the schools did not have electricity.Presently, 96% of the schools are supplied with electricity.We are looking forward to strengthening Piriven Education as it promotes national harmony,” he said . “Eleven Cabinet proposals were presented in order to get the approval for the Tablets. Within two months, A/L students of all national schools will receive a Tablet. If we do not move with the technology, we will be a nation lagging behind,” he added.

He also that through the Lagama Pasala Hodama Pasala project, 1,500 buildings were given and 5,500 schools will receive financial aid.
