Rewards for dedicated Police officers

Police officers rendering exceptional and dedicated service to the country at various levels have been rewarded by the IGP to the tune of Rs. 16,347,000 during the first four months of this year, according to Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara. These rewards are being paid to police officers on the directives of the IGP utilising funds from the Police Rewards Fund.

Accordingly, in 2018 the IGP had paid a sum of Rs. 63,891,000 as rewards, in 2017 a sum of Rs. 44,838,500, in 2016 a sum of Rs. 53,361,000 was paid and in 2015 a sum of Rs. 11,796,000 was paid as rewards.

The Police Spokesman said that these rewards are paid to police officers who carry out their duties in an efficient and exceptional manner with the aim of motivating them further.

“In addition to the rewards granted by the IGP, the rewards awarded by other police divisions are Rs. 127,245,511 during the first five months of this year, Rs. 1138, 100, 936 in 2018 and Rs. 899, 726, 255 in 2017,” SP Gunasekara said.

“The Rewards for Police officers is an opportunity to recognise their dedication and to reward those that protect our families, our homes and our neighbourhoods,” the Spokesman said.
