This government will go down in history as the government that provided the largest pay hikes and other benefits to state sector employees and pensioners, Public Administration and Disaster Management Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara told a media briefing held at the Government Information Department yesterday.
Minister Madduma Bandara said that before 2015, government servants had to protest demanding pay hikes even though governing parties had pledged hikes as election gimmicks. But after the present government came to power, a Rs 10,000 salary hike was given to public servants and even the issue of pension anomalies has been solved.
The present government has also taken number of measures to enhance the living condition of farmers by providing all facilities as well as a good price for their produce.
The government has also fulfilled the housing dream of a large number of underprivileged families via the Housing Ministry, the Megapolis and the Western Development Ministry and various other institutions.
The Minister further said that the government has also taken a decision to provide a deed of conveyance for those living on State lands.
