“Pannaraya” to steer country towards prosperity - Ranawaka

“Pannaraya” is a programme to bring the country towards overall development, Megapolis and Western Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said.

He was speaking at the inaugural launch of the “Pannaraya” programme held at Waters Edge Hotel, Battaramulla on Tuesday. The Pannaraya programme was launched under the theme “For a country worth living in”.

Minister Ranawaka said the Pannaraya programme has been planned to steer the country towards prosperity while achieving sustainable development goals with the assistance of capable and energetic persons, armed with positive attitudes. Accordingly, Pannaraya will identify such capable individuals, called “Yakada Minisa” (Iron Soul) to be the driving force of the country.

Minister Ranawaka said iron has the closest bond with the Sri Lankan culture since Sri Lankan ancestors had known the technology of extracting iron before any other nation in the world obtained that technology.

“Iron is strong yet it has a melting character. Similarly, Yakada Minisa possesses that melting character. He is enriched with humanitarian qualities including kindness, patient, compassion etc,” the Minister said.

“The Pannaraya promotions campaign was created to make the public aware of the massive development projects and sub-projects to trigger human development. It highlights and underscores the integrated effort of the Ministry and its line agencies,” Minister Ranawaka said.

“In all of the projects initiated by these organizations, the most significant founding factor of efforts where sustainable development is highlighted is the simultaneous physical and human development. That is engineered by Yakada Minissu or Iron Souls” the Minister noted.

These projects arising out of the overarching philosophy of the Ministry, namely economic wellbeing, spiritual wellbeing, harmony with nature and sustainability and fed by the commitment of those Yakada Minissu to provide real benefits to the people through these large scale projects ultimately enriches the Pannaraya campaign.

The Minister added that achieving an overall development is not a unachievable target. It is needed to deploy right and capable persons to the appropriate place.

“Singapore reached the first world from third world in 30 years by appointing the right person to the right place. Trustworthiness is also equally important for the development of a country. People can place their trust in the government that no malpractices are taken place,” he said.

When questioned whether this programme is a promotional campaign for the next Presidential election, while flatly refusing those allegations, he said that he does not believe in obtaining cheap political gains.
