Bangladesh, NZ tours to go ahead

The Bangladesh, as well as, the New Zealand cricket tour’s of Sri Lanka, that was on-hold, owing to the security inspection’s, due to the Easter Sunday Attacks, will proceed as planned, after inspections by the reggae teams of both boards, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) CEO, Ashley De Silva said. “It’s about 90 percent finalised.

As it is, it will go ahead, for the moment. We’re waiting for them to officially confirm the tour,” de Silva said. “New Zealand has given a very positive response. We’re waiting Bangladesh to confirm. The latter sent a reggae, who carried out inspections and returned.

The feedback was positive. So, we’re waiting for them to confirm it.” In the aftermath of the attacks, the security situation in the country, had deteriorated drastically, that, originally, BCB initially were reluctant to tour.

Afterwards, BCB said, it was having a close eye on the situation in the country. However, now, subsequent to extensive ground monitoring, the concerned party is convinced, with only a formal confirmation is pending. Bangladesh will be the first team to tour the country, since the April suicide bombing. They will play three One-Dayers from 20-31 July. The Kiwis will follow for two Tests and three T-20’s scheduled from 3 August to 7 September.
