PM’s Office, Gampaha Secretariat rated best by COPA

The Prime Minister’s Office, along with several other government institutions, has achieved the highest performance in the assessment programme carried out by the Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) based on the accounts of financial year 2017, COPA’s latest report revealed.

Prime Minister’s Office, which falls under the category of Special Spending Units of the Government in the assessment, has secured the first place of its category by scoring 100 marks. The Auditor General’s Department and Commission to Investigate Allegation of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) were rated the second and the third best institutions, both scoring an equal score of 98 marks.

The Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development has secured the first place in the Government Ministries category scoring 93 marks while Department of Treasury Operations has secured the first place in Government Departments category by scoring 98 marks. The Gampaha District Secretariat has secured the first place in the District Secretariat category scoring 100 marks. These institutions have shown higher performance in each category according to the assessment programme carried out on adoption of financial and performance regulations based on the accounts of financial year 2017. The third report of the Committee on Public Accounts on the Financial and Performance Evaluation of State Institutions, Provincial Councils and Local Authorities, based on the Computer Management Information System of the Financial Year 2017, was presented to Parliament by the Committee Chairman Lasantha Alagiyawanna, MP, recently.
