Parliamentary delegation on one-week visit to China

A delegation of Sri Lankan Parliamentarians will visit People’s Republic of China on July 14 headed by Former Minister and UNP Parliamentarian Rauff Hakeem. They will stay there one week.

The delegation comprises Special Areas Development Non Cabinet Minister Dr. V. Radhakrishnan, UPFA MPs Nimal Siripala De Silva, Gamini Lokuge, Dr. Bandula Gunawardana, Keheliya Rambukwella, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena and ITAK MP Shanthy Sriskantharajah. They will visit the Shaanxi Province and the Ningxia Autonomous Region in China.

The visit is a part of the programme that was launched to sent all parliamentarians to China to strengthen the cordial relationships between parliamentarians in the two countries, to exchange experiences among them, and to achieve mutual understanding. In addition, they will witness the developments in China.

This is the last group of the 225 members that visit China under the programme. The visit was funded by the Chinese Government. The programme was initiated following the new government elected on January 8 and so far, 10 delegations have visited since the first one on October 26, 2015.

The delegations visited Beijing, Kunming, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Shanghai, Wuhan, Suzhou, Nanjing, Xuzhou and Tibet.
