British HC visits Batticaloa

British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka James Dauris visited the Batticaloa Municipality yesterday. He was welcomed with a garland of conches and oysters by Deputy Mayor K. Sathiyaseelan, Commissioner K.Cithravel, Accountant G.H.Sivaraja and Batticaloa MC Councillors.

The British High Commissioner inquired about the Easter Sunday attack and expressed his sympathy towards the victims and their families.

He was made aware of the development activities of the former Eastern Province Governors M.L.A.M. Hizbullah and Rohitha Bogollagama.

The Commissioner was highly impressed with the work that Brandix was doing to uplift the regional down-trodden women.

He was presented with a memento by the Deputy Mayor. The Commissioner was accompanied by the Defence Advisor Colonel David Ashman and Political Officer Jovitha Arulanthamb.
